Rodney Byl

Managing Director

For over twenty-three years Rodney has maintained the highest levels of professional ethics, commitment to quality and accuracy, and commitment to exceeding customer expectations throughout his time delivering projects in Australia and the South East Asia Region.

Rodney will assist you with any building approval or technical interpretation, he specialises in medium to high rise development, BCA analysis including technical due diligence & fire safety audits. He loves touching base with clients, so let him know if you want to catch up for a coffee.

Rodney is a fully qualified (Level 1) building surveyor with the following credentials:

Troy Richardson

Senior Building Certifier

Troy has responsibility for Building Certification services provided throughout North Queensland.

His extensive experience in building code analysis and building regulation interpretation has developed from six years in local government and 17 years in the private sector.

Troy’s expertise includes BCA assessments for all building types, technical due diligence fire safety audits, peer review, performance based design advice, and assessment of performance based fire engineering safety reports and BCA compliance advice and legislative interpretation.

Troy is a fully qualified building surveyor with the following credentials:

CAIRNS

Project Scope

This development consists of 14 storey building accommodating 220 hotel rooms in a southern tower and 110 apartments in a northern tower plus a basement carpark. The Ground floor incorporates the hotel lobby, restaurants and cafes, along with retail tenancies and swimming pools. The total height of the Building will be 46 metres AHD.

Scope of Consultancy provided

Astute Certification are engaged as the Building Certifiers, BCA Consultants and Disabled Access Consultants on the project by the Builder.

Budget and Program

The budget for the project is $100M and construction is due to commence early 2017.

RSL Warhaven Units

8-30 MCLACHLAN STREET, MANUNDA

Project Scope

The RSL Warhaven Retirement Village involved the demolition of the older single style existing units on the site to be replaced by the construction of 2 by 3 storey apartment blocks, 57 units total which also includes a new common hall and facilities on the ground floor of Block A plus separate Mens shed building.

Scope of Consultancy provided

Troy Richardson from Astute Building Certification was engaged as the Building Certifier and BCA Consultant on the project by the developer.

Budget and Program

The budget for the project is $14.9M and construction was completed late 2016.

Bank of PNG – Cash Distribution facility

LAE, PNG

Project Scope

As an approved supplier of services to the Bank of Papua New Guinea, Astute Certification have managed the compliance in design and construction of their newest banking facility which is being built in Lae, Papua New Guinea. The new facility provides BPNG with a platform in Lae to extending the banks mission of Bringing Central banking services to the local people.

Scope of Consultancy provided

Astute Certification are providing full Building Certification Services and Access Consulting Services on this project.

Budget and Program

The PGK 92M project features a new state of the art banking facility built to international standards. An early works piling contract for the basement construction commenced in September 2015 with final completion of the project expected to be completed mid 2018.

Lagoons 1770 Resort & Spa

CENTRAL QUEENSLAND

Project Scope

Astute Certification were engaged for the building certification and inspection services for the project.

Scope of Consultancy provided

Astute Certification were engaged to provide financiers cost reporting and management including early stage cost planning, monthly cost management, and project financial control. Astute Certification was also engaged for the building certification services for the project.

Budget and Program

Construction re-commenced in May 2014 and it was opened for the public in April 2015, with an approximate construction budget of $10.0M.

Waigani Courts Redevelopment

PORT MORESBY, PNG

Project Scope

The new Waigani National Courts Complex is designed as a campus environment which adds to the existing Supreme and National Courts Building. Three new buildings totally over 25,000m² will be constructed. These include a 5-level Courts and Judiciary building with 14 new court rooms, a 3-storey administrative support building with space for registries and support agencies and a single level security arrivals building.

Scope of Consultancy provided

Astute Certification are engaged as the Building Certifiers, BCA Consultants and Disabled Access Consultants on the project by the Principal. We have also been engage to prepare trade package bills of quantities for tenderer's on the project.

Budget and Program

The budget for the project is $190M and construction is due to commence mid-2017.
